MY PATH TO HEALING

PAth.jpeg

This is me

I am not trained or an expert in this, by any stretch of the imagination.

This is MY PATH, yours will be different.

This is what worked for me

     Awareness is the first step

All good programs start with self-awareness. Knowing something isn't right, something has changed.

Get help.

Go to your GP and have a chat. Consider a mental health plan and a referral (i.e. psychologist)

Know that you don't fit into a box

While a diagnosis has common signs & symptoms etc, your experience will not fit you into a box that matches the next person.

Embrace the commonality but don't compare yourself to others.

It's hard work

Things don't get better by chance, there is work to be done.

There is no quick fix or easy path to take

Communicate

Be open with your support network.

You may not always know what or why you are feeling a certain way, but acknowledge that you are.

Own your behaviour.

If you are having a bad day and lash out at your kids, find an age appropriate way to apologise and explain where you are at.

Don't be afraid of medication

If medication is an option, consider all your options, before you make your decision.

Not all medication needs to be long term.

Smile

It's ok to have a good moment, a good day or a good week.

Learn your
triggers

You can't spend your days avoiding your triggers,

but having an awareness,

helps you manage your tougher days.

Find your mental safe space

Similar to mindfulness,

it's something that takes your attention,

that you enjoy doing.

Helping you to find balance.

Find your purpose

Finding a new 'why' gives a purpose.

Having a purpose gives meaning.

Meaning gives direction.

 Direction gives motivation.

Motivation moves you towards better health.
